The City Clerk is also the Clerk of the City Council and maintains all of its records. A Citizen may petition the City Council on matters under their general supervision.

The deadline for filing a petition is 11:00 AM on the Friday preceding each Tuesday Council meeting. Generally, the Council meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Council Chamber on the Second Floor of City Hall. During the summer, the Council meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday in June, July, and August and not the Tuesday after Labor Day or Thanksgiving.

Citizens file petitions with the City Clerk concerning a wide range of topics under the jurisdiction of their local government, including the condition of streets and sidewalks, street lighting, public safety, housing, zoning, taxation, traffic and parking and many others.
