Duties of Offices:

  • Chairperson - responsible for presiding at public meetings and hearings of Commission; works with other City officials to promote wetlands and open space protection; works with Department's staff to maximize public service and the implementation of all relevant federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; interacts directly with the public as a liaison with the City

  • Vice-Chair - presides in the absence of the Chairperson; assists the Chairperson in performing his/her duties; responsible for reviewing and maintaining updated Conservation Commission Guidelines; responsible for reviewing special conditions and stipulations proposed for usage in the issuance of an Order of Conditions and Determination of Applicability

  • Clerk - works with Department's secretary to review and finalize all meeting minutes for formal acceptance by the Commission

  • Planning Board Liason - works with Department's staff to review projects proposed before the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals for the purpose of offering information pertaining to the impacts of the Commission's regulations on these projects; informs the Commission of potential wetland impacts proposed with such projects; reviews for comment all ordinances and regulations proposed by these Boards;

  • Trails Committee Liason - works with Department's Trails Committee to provide input pertaining to the Commission's regulatory efforts to protect open space; informs the Commission on the activities of the Committee that maintain and promote the City's conservation areas and trail systems; advises Committee on Commission's permitting procedures

  • Policy Review Subcommittee - schedules and holds public meetings, with the assistance of the Department's staff, to discuss the policies and regulations of the Commission; works with the staff to prepare new and updated ordinances, regulations, and policies for formal acceptance and implementation by the Commission
