REQUIREMENTS FOR POOL PERMITS

1. PLOT PLANS Room 214

Pool must be located at least five (5') from every lot line and structure *(in accordance with section #255-27 of the Haverhill City Zoning Code). Pools may not be located in the front yard set-back.

Pools must be enclosed with a fence at least 4' but not more than 6' in height ** (in accordance with Article II, Section 225-3 of the Haverhill City Code).

2. CONSERVATION Room 210

All plot plans must be taken to Conservation Department and stamped regarding the Wet Lands Act Jurisdiction.

3. ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT Room 210

An electrical permit must be issued to a licensed electrician prior to the issuance of a building permit by this office.

4. HEALTH DEPARTMENT Room 208

If you have a private sewage disposal system, a Health Inspector must sign off on your plot plan indicating that the pool will not affect your system.

When the above requirements have been met, bring the stamped plot plans and the Electrical Permit number to the Building Inspector for his review. Upon the Building Inspector's approval a pool permit will be issued.

NOTE: INSPECTORS ARE ONLY IN THE OFFICE FROM 8-9 AM AND THEN 3-4 PM

FYI AN ELECTRICAL INSPECTION IS REQUIRED BEFORE THE FINAL BUILDING INSPECTION AND BEFORE THE POOL IS FILLED WITH WATER.

255-27. ACCESSORY SWIMMING POOLS.

In any district, an accessory swimming pool shall conform to the following provisions: it shall not be located in the required front yard; it shall not be less than five (5) feet from any rear or side lot line; and it shall not exceed a height of six (6) feet.

225-3. FENCE REQUIRED.

No swimming pool shall be maintained, constructed or installed unless it shall have a fence at least four (4) feet in height completely enclosing the pool or a minimum of 2' railings on top with a ladder that lifts and locks. Including temporary Inflatable pools.
