City Names New Interim Director at Public Library

Mayor James J. Fiorentini today announced that Mary Johnson-Lally has been named the new interim director of the Haverhill Public Library. Ms. Johnson replaces Nancy Rea who resigned recently to take a job with State.

Ms. Johnson-Lally is the retired director of the Pollard Memorial Library in Lowell. Where she served as the director from 1995 until 2003, previous to that she worked in the public library system in Medford. She is a Summa Cum Laude graduate from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and has a Masters in Library Science from Simmons College in Boston.

In making the announcement Mayor Fiorentini hailed Johnson-Lally and said that she would be a welcomed addition to the Haverhill system:

“We welcome Ms. Johnson-Lally to Haverhill and are thrilled that she has agreed to help us out us out during the interim period while we search for a permanent Library Director. It is gratifying to have a person with her knowledge and experience step up to the plate to assist us.

We are very proud of our library in Haverhill and consider it to be one of the finest Libraries anywhere in the region. We welcome Ms. Johnson-Lally to continue that great tradition.
