FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

City Boat Ramp Repaired and Open for Labor Day Enjoyment

HAVERHILL - Mayor James J. Fiorentini announced the repair and reopening of the City’s public boat ramp adjacent to the Crescent Yacht Club in Bradford.  The Mayor was joined at the groundbreaking ceremony by State Representatives Brian S. Dempsey [D-Haverhill] and Barbara L’Italien [D-Andover], who represents Bradford.

The ramp was built by the City using City labor and engineering.  The Commonwealth, through the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game’s Office of Fishing and Boating Access, provided all of the materials and engineering oversight.  The work was completed in time for the Labor Day holiday and this year’s boating season.

“I am pleased that this ramp is back in place, providing free and safe public access to the Merrimack River for boaters, fishermen and water enthusiasts alike,” stated Mayor Fiorentini.  “The repair of this public facility fits perfectly with my plans to reconnect people to the River,” the Mayor added.

In addition to the ramp, the state is providing improved signage directing the public to the boat ramp.

The ramp repair and signage improvements were done for relatively negligible costs to the City.
