Mayor Fiorentini Named Head of Massachusetts Brownfields Organization.

Mayor James J. Fiorentini has been named as the head of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters of the National Brownfields Organization.

And Fiorentini was nominated and recommended for the post of by the outgoing President, Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray.  Lt. Gov. Murray held the post as head of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapters of the Brownfields organization him while he was Mayor of Worcester, Massachusetts.

Fiorentini said that as head of the Brownfields organization in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, he would have a unique opportunity to meet investors, state and local Brownfields officials:

" When I first ran for office, I made redeveloping our city by using Brownfields money as one of our top priorities.  I am thrilled with the national Brownfields organization has recognized the great progress we have made in our revitalization by using Brownfields funds. The city of Haverhill has been a leader in using Brownfields money in order to spark a revitalization.”

The Mayor said that his new position would give him an opportunity to bring investors and developers to Massachusetts and to the Merrimack Valley. 

Fiorentini says he intends to hold the next executive committee meeting in the Haverhill Lawrence area.
