Mayor to Attend United States Conference of Mayors
Mayor James J. Fiorentini will join other Mayors from Massachusetts and throughout the country at the United States Conference of Mayors in Washington, DC later this week. Fiorentini, who has attended every year, called it “a unique opportunity to network with other elected officials and work for common solutions”.
At the meeting the Mayors will be addressed by several Presidential candidates and national leaders including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel, New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and Presidential Candidate Joe Biden. More than 250 Mayors are planning to attend.
The theme of the 75 th winter meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors is “Strong Cities, Strong Families, for a Strong America”.
Fiorentini said that in addition to meeting with Mayors and candidates for the Presidency, he hopes to use the conference as a time to meet with staff members from Senators Kerry and Kennedy’s office:
“In the past, these meetings have been a critical time to meet with the staff members of Senators Kerry and Kennedy and update them on critical Haverhill problems.”
