Mayor Fiorentini and City of Haverhill Honored At Tree City Awards

May 24th, for the first time, the Tree City USA Awards were held in Haverhill at Winnekenni Castle. The Mayor and the City of Haverhill were commended for dedication to open space and the environment.

Mayor Fiorentini took the opportunity to show a national documentary entitled “The Return of the American Elm,” which showcased the City of Haverhill and the progress with preserving open space and the recent planting of over one hundred elm trees throughout the City of Haverhill.

Organizer Eric Seaborn spoke at length about the accolades of the Mayor and the City of Haverhill throughout the Tree City Awards commending the Mayor for being a “champion of open space” and thanking the Mayor and the City of Haverhill for taking such progressive strides towards creating a more environmentally sound City. The Mayor and the City of Haverhill were praised for efforts with Open Space and the Elm Street Project.
