Mayor Plants Trees

Mayor James J. Fiorentini announced that the City has plans to plant over 150 trees over the course of the next six months. Starting in early spring and continuing throughout the coming fall, the Highway Department and the Mayor’s office have made great strides in planting over 75 trees throughout the City of Haverhill with 75 more trees left to go.

Three years ago Mayor Fiorentini brought back disease resistant Elm trees to the City for the first time in fifty years.  Over the last three years, the city has planted between two and three hundred trees per year.  Previous to, the City rarely planted trees and averaged about 25 trees per year. This year trees will be planted throughout the City, including playgrounds, community parks and several streets.

Mayor Fiorentini said:

“Trees are critical in maintaining the beauty of our City. Planting trees is an important part of keeping up a city’s appearance and beauty.  I am proud this year to join with our highway department in planting over 150 trees throughout the City of Haverhill.”
