Mayor Calls Waste Treatment Plant Odors “Unacceptable”
Orders Immediate Steps to Improve

Mayor James J. Fiorentini today said that the odors emanating from the city’s waste water treatment plant are unacceptable. After visiting with local residents and touring the Waste Water Treatment Plant, the Mayor has directed water/wastewater department head Robert Ward to make controlling these odors as his highest and top priority. Mayor Fiorentini met with residents today and said:

“I met with the neighbors of the waste water treatment plant and I share their concern. The plant is an asset to the City and the many fine people that work there do a great job. The City has made a number of steps towards improvement and although it has been a much better year, neighbors are still experiencing intermittent odors. I hope to implement several new strategies to eliminate the odor. Working together to control what has been an ongoing summer problem of the odors is a shared goal by me and Robert Ward.”
