MAYOR PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL JOB SHADOW DAY

Mayor James J. Fiorentini took part in “National Job Shadow Day”, a program which places students with “mentors” for a day.  Mayor Fiorentini was “shadowed” by Haverhill High School Sophomore Nate Edmundson.  Nate accompanied Mayor Fiorentini to the polls on Super Tuesday, delivering food to poll workers.  He also experienced the busy schedule and fast pace of the Mayor’s official duties.

“It is exciting meeting with a young person like Nate who wants to go into politics.  I always enjoy meeting and talking with younger people,” Mayor Fiorentini stated.

Job Shadow Day began in 1998 to encourage young people to participate in their desired future career or interest and “shadow” a mentor as they go through their daily job routine.

National Job Shadow Day is held around Groundhog’s Day every year.  It is organized by the Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board.
