FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MAYOR ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL STREETS TO BE PAVED

HAVERHILL- Mayor James J. Fiorentini and Director of Public Works Michael Stankovich today announced a list of additional streets to be paved this year.

The list was developed after inspecting each of the streets and after receiving public comments and requests.  The Mayor personally inspected several of the streets.  Most of these streets will be paid for with Chapter 90 Roadway funds from the State.  The remaining streets listed will be paved with Federal block grant funds.

The Mayor also announced a preliminary list of streets to be paved starting next spring.  That preliminary 2009 list may be amended depending upon the condition of the roads and streets after the winter.

“Public involvement and participation in street paving was part of this overall plan to improve customer service within the newly formed Department of Public Works,” noted Mayor Fiorentini.

At the Mayor’s request, the street paving list will be posted on the internet on the City website.  People who have additional streets they would like to have considered should log onto the City website and fill out a form which will be available shortly.
