Mayor Announces First Phase of Street Paving List for 2008

HAVERHILL- Mayor James J. Fiorentini and Director of Public Works Michael Stankovich today announced the list of city streets that are scheduling for repaving in 2008. These streets were on the list submitted to the Massachusetts Highway Department for Chapter 90 (state funding) approval.

The first group of streets approved are as follows:

• Hyatt Avenue
  
• Edgewood Avenue
  
• Eastern Avenue
  
• Glenwood Circle
  
• Wedgewood Drive
  
• Amesbury Line Road
  
• Old Amesbury Line Road
  
• Merrimack Road
  
• Inland Street
  
• Plaistow Road
  
• South Crystal Street
  
• Washington Avenue
  
• North Main Street
  
• Booth Street

The Mayor said that more streets will be approved and a second list submitted later.

“This is all part of our effort for better customer service. We are working hard to keep the streets in better condition” noted the Mayor.

In addition to this City-funded work through the Commonwealth’s Chapter 90 program, roadwork improvement and repaving is expected for River Street/Route 110 from Maxwell Street to the Methuen line. This project is State-funded.
