City Wins Grants to Prevent Youth Hunger During Summer
HAVERHILL- Mayor James J. Fiorentini announced that $16,000 has been awarded to the City’s Public Schools and the Citizens Center by the Project Bread Massachusetts Child Hunger Initiative incentive grants program. Many of these funds are raised as part of the annual Walk for Hunger in Boston.
The School Department’s Food Services summer program will work to provide breakfast and lunches to income-eligible children at 14 sites, including Plug Pond, DARE programs, the YMCA, Girl Scouts, Hadley West, Presidential Gardens, Haverhill Recreation Camps, St. James Summer school programs, ‘youth movie night’ programs at the Citizens Center, special education summer programs and others.
