Mayor Fiorentini celebrates Arbor Day

Mayor James J. Fiorentini will be celebrating Arbor Day on Monday, April 27th at 10AM at the Moody School at 59 Margin Street, Haverhill. As part of the Arbor Day celebration, the Mayor will be dedicating an American Sycamore tree in memory of Alex McNulty, a former student of the Moody School who died suddenly in 2006. Alex’s parents, Janice and Rob McNulty will be present and speaking at this event.

In addition to Mayor Fiorentini, members of the DPW Department will be on hand with the “Arbor Bear” to bring awareness of this important day to school children at the Moody School. The Mayor will join Arbor Bear and read a proclamation from the City commemorating this day as well as talk about the importance of trees in our community.

Haverhill has a long history of recognizing the need to maintain its trees as well as have a continued tree planting program and has been designated as a “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation for many years. Last year, Haverhill planted upwards of 200 trees throughout the City and plans to plant an additional 30 this year.

Please join Mayor Fiorentini and other city officials as Haverhill celebrates Arbor Day 2009.
