Mayor James J. Fiorentini > Press Release

Please be advised that Mayor James Fiorentini will be holding a celebration of St. Patrick's Day in his office on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 9:30AM. 

This year the Mayor has designated Attorney David Swartz and Mr. John Ronayne as the official raisers of the Irish Flag.  Father Robert Murray of St. James Parish will provide an invocation as well.

Attorney David Swartz is the grandson of Anne McGowan of County Fermanagh, Ireland.  In the past, he has served Haverhill as a City Councilor, State Representative and also as an Assistant District Attorney.  He is member of the Courthouse Building Committee and is a Ward Chairman for the Haverhill Democratic City Committee.  He is a member of St. James Parish in Haverhill.  After graduating from St. James High School, he graduated from Providence College and Harvard University Law School.

Mr. John Ronayne is from Castlelyons, County Cork, Ireland.  (This is the same town City Councilor William Ryans mother hails from.)  John moved from Ireland to the United States in 1985 and has lived for the past 8 years in Haverhill.  He is a heavy equipment operator with Local 4.
